Pork Chop Is a Racist Slur?

I can't seem to find any info online at the moment about how "Pork Chop" is a racial slur towards Latino people... Does anyone know where the origins of this come from? The only story I can find connecting the term to racism is the recent mascot story from Philadelphia. Can someone enlighten me? I thought it would be used to insult someone of a heavy build. I've heard it used as a term of affection in some comedy, I think, but I'm guessing that wasn't in the case of Mr. Lopez.

Just another round of political correctness about something most people feel nothing towards. Now it's into the light and more hispanics are going to be called PorkChops!
It doesn't really mean anything, kinda like the 'n' word.

I thought pork chop refers to Portuguese people, well at least that's how it's used in Canada.

As I thought it's about Portuguese people and it's not really racist our. Portuguese neighbors call themselves pork chops all the time

I'm of mixed race, and I see no big deal here. In the Summer I get dark and the white folks call me an Injun, or a Redskin. In the Winter when I lose my tan, the black folks call me a honky or a cracker. As long as man has an imagination he will continue to think up new and more ugly racial slurs.
The best we Indians could think of, was paleface.
